Under the direction of Dr. Edward Bolkovac, the Cathedral Choir comprises both volunteer and professional singers. Repertoire is drawn from all stylistic periods and a variety of cultural traditions. Rehearsals are held on certain scheduled Wednesday evenings 7:00-9:00 PM from September to June. Weekend obligations are Sundays from 10:00 AM-12 PM with rehearsal at 10:00 and Mass at 11:00. Auditions are not required for volunteers, but the Choirmaster will hear individuals in order to assess ability and make appropriate part assignments.

The Archdiocesan Youth Choir (AYC) is a sacred music, youth ministry of the Archdiocese of Hartford. The AYC is open to young people of the Archdiocese of Hartford (ages 7 to 18). Choir members are given vocal instruction, an introduction to sacred music of the Roman Catholic liturgy and receive a small stipend. The AYC is in residence at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph and participates in the 11:00 am Liturgy at the Cathedral as well as at other parishes in the Archdiocese. Rehearsals are held weekly on Sundays, from 9:00 am to 10:45 am, conducted by Choirmaster, Mr. Brian Gedicks. Auditions are required.

In residence for special occasions at the Cathedral, this ensemble comprises some of the finest professional musicians in Connecticut.

If you are interested in volunteering your musical talents, please contact the Music Director, Dr. Ezequiel Menéndez.

The Cathedral has hosted many area Choirs as well as visiting choirs from foreign lands.  To read a copy of a letter describing this program press
