Welcome to the Cathedral of Saint Joseph Parish
Have you considered joining the Cathedral of Saint Joseph Parish? Many people attend Mass here on a regular basis who are not listed on our parish rolls. Of course, everyone is welcome at Mass and at all Cathedral functions whether they wish to join the parish community or not, but there are some very good reasons for joining the parish that you should consider:
† There are opportunities for deepening our faith, and joining in the work of the Church through performance of the spiritual and the corporal works of mercy;
† We may support Archbishop Mansell in making the Cathedral “… a continual reference-point for all the members of the Diocese.” The faithful are called to gather round the Bishop’s chair, for “…where the Bishop is, there is the Church.” (Letter to the Smyrnaeans, 8, 2) The cathedral is the center of the Diocese’s liturgical life: “In the majesty of its building it is a symbol of the spiritual temple that is built up in souls and is resplendent with the glory of divine grace.” [quoted by Pope John Paul II];
† Make the Cathedral a public sign of our membership in a Kingdom that is not of this world. In our public celebration of liturgy and life, we put a public face on the practice of the faith in the State of Connecticut;
† Join with others to provide for the education of our children, for our own Christian formation as adults, and to build our lives in a visible Catholic Culture thus showing the world that there is a better Way.
We would like to have you as a fellow parishioner. We need new families and youthful energy to carry on as a vibrant parish. If you join the parish you may, if you wish, choose to participate in the envelope system to have a tax record of your contributions. Remember, all the information you provide is confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside the Rectory.
