Hartford Concerts for Charities

Hartford Concerts for Charities (HCC) is a partnership between the Cathedral of St. Joseph, the Hartt School, and local and corporate sponsors that brings together student and professional musicians to produce exciting classical music concerts that benefit people in need.

HCC pledges to donate all proceeds from each concert to a designated charity.  Because all musical and publicity costs of the concerts are donated by corporate and individual sponsors, concertgoers may be certain that 100% of their contribution at the door is helping to benefit those in need.  Similarly, corporate and individual sponsors may be assured that they are not only enriching the cultural life of the Hartford area by supporting the arts, but are also helping to support the designated charity.

Sunday, June 6, 2010 5:00 pm Song for Haiti

Musicians from the Hartford, New Haven, and Springfield Symphonies will present a concert to raise monies to help rebuild the New Victorian School in Port-au-Prince Haiti. The centerpiece of the concert will be the final movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, the movement that incorporates Schiller’s “Ode to Joy.”  Other works on the program will include Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus,” a choral transcription of the “Largo” from Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9, Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia,” a work for organ and brass, and an interfaith hymn.  Maestros William Boughton (New Haven Symphony) and Edward Cumming (Hartford Symphony) will conduct. CONCORA's Richard Coffey will serve as chorusmaster. For more information about this unprecedented and unique collaboration, please click HERE.
